What do the Oil-Based Calculator’s fields and results mean?

What appears when

There is no error text: results stay hidden until Weekly dose, a schedule and Concentration are all numbers above zero.

Steps

  1. Under Your dose, enter Weekly dose in mg; it has no presets.
  2. Enter Concentration in mg/mL as printed on the vial; the chips (50–400) are shortcuts only for a value already on the label.
  3. Under Injection schedule, select the schedule you already follow — ED, Every 36h, EOD, E3D, Twice weekly, Weekly, Bi-weekly or Custom (adds an Every field in days). From Tools it opens on Twice weekly: a starting position, not a suggestion.
  4. Optional: under Your vial, enter Vial size in mL — above zero, or the supply section stays hidden.
  5. Optional: enter Number of vials (from Tools it starts at 1; empty, invalid or below one counts as one).
    Oil-Based Calculator inputs: Weekly dose 150 mg, Concentration 200 mg/mL with the 200 chip selected, Twice weekly selected, Vial size 10 mL, Number of vials 1.

  6. Read the result card: DRAW PER INJECTION (mL), ON YOUR SYRINGE (units; insulin barrels only, U-100 — 100 units per mL), then Per injection (mg), Injections per week and Weekly volume (mL).
    Result card reading Draw per injection 0.38 mL, On your syringe 37.5 u, then rows Per injection 75 mg, Injections per week 2, Weekly volume 0.75 mL, and the footer Calculated from your values.

  7. Read Your supply: On hand, Injections per vial (the whole number of draws that fit), Total injections, Supply lasts about (weeks) and Runs out around (counted from today, so it changes day to day).
  8. Under Your syringe, pick the barrel you use; the drawing and On this syringe show the draw on it.
    Your supply rows (On hand 2,000 mg (10 mL), Injections per vial 26, Total injections 26, Supply lasts about 13 weeks, Runs out around Dec 11, 2026) above a drawn 1 mL syringe filled to 37.5 units with an On this syringe row reading 37.5 units.
    The same fictional example continued — not a suggested supply or schedule: what one 10 mL vial holds, how many injections and weeks it covers, and the draw on a 1 mL syringe.

If it looks different

Typed 0.125 and the result looks wrong?
Type plain numbers with one decimal separator. One ambiguity: exactly three digits after the separator with at most three before it (0.125) is read as a grouped whole number (125) although the field shows 0.125 — check the result matches what you meant.
“This draw is more than this syringe holds.”?
The draw exceeds the barrel you picked, so the drawing fills to the top; an exactly full barrel fills it too, without the warning.
Your syringe with the 0.3 mL · 30 u barrel selected, the drawing filled to the top with its callout at 30 u, On this syringe 37.5 units, and the warning This draw is more than this syringe holds.
